LECHUZA-PON – mineral plant substrate for healthy growth
LECHUZA-PON provides an optimal air-to-water ratio for plants (45% water – 55% air), helping to reduce susceptibility to disease. This structurally stable plant substrate does not compact over the years and permanently maintains its air-permeable structure, so there is no need to replace LECHUZA-PON even after long-term use.
Repeated screening during production minimizes fine particles in the mineral mix. This helps prevent clogging in the root zone and maintains consistent capillary action throughout the substrate.
Balanced pH and nutrient availability
The zeolite content in LECHUZA-PON helps to permanently stabilize the optimal pH value in LECHUZA planters, supporting healthy plant growth. Macro- and micronutrients remain continuously and easily available to the roots.
LECHUZA-PON ensures continuous capillary action right up to the surface of the container. This means underplanted arrangements and shallow-rooted plants are reliably supplied with water.
The LECHUZA plant substrate promotes even distribution of nutrients throughout the root area in the planter. This optimal supply supports uniform, compact root development and robust plants you can enjoy for a long time.
Protection against over-fertilization
LECHUZA-PON acts as a buffer, absorbing excess fertilizer and releasing it back to the plant when needed. This natural nutrient storage helps protect roots from damage that can be caused by over-fertilization.
The bulk density of LECHUZA-PON is carefully matched to provide plants with firm support in the planter, which is especially important for larger specimens. It also helps keep LECHUZA planters very stable and makes the substrate well suited for outdoor use.
Clean, low-odor and user-friendly
The granulate naturally helps to bind odors, for example from dead root parts. Heavy metals and pollutants (such as those that may be present in irrigation water) are permanently bound in the substrate.
As a purely mineral plant substrate, LECHUZA-PON can inhibit harmful root fungi and does not provide a breeding ground for typical soil pests such as fungus gnats. This makes it a suitable option for people who prefer a cleaner, low-soil environment around their plants.
LECHUZA-PON is easy to pour and can be handled cleanly with a scoop when filling planters.
When planting with LECHUZA-PON, you do NOT need to completely remove the original soil from the plant’s root ball; it can simply be placed into the planter and surrounded with PON.
